What is an IiQ 3000?
The IiQ 3000 is a gateway providing an inter-working, conversion and transport capability and is located between a traditional DPNSS PBX and the standard Q.931 or QSIG interfaces, supported by most IP telephony systems (e.g. Cisco Call Manager).
Does an IiQ3000 convert signalling from a DPNSS PBX to a QSIG PBX?
Yes. To do this, you would run the IiQ 3000 in Interworking mode to map DPNSS to QSIG and vice versa.
How does the IiQ 3000 convert from DPNSS to QSIG?
The IiQ 3000 has 2 ways of working:
i. Interworking, which is a straight mapping of DPNSS services to their QSIG equivalents.
ii. Transparency, which is when the original DPNSS message is sent as a package within QSIG using the QSIG GFP service.
This is used when both end PBXs are DPNSS and QSIG is being used with in a carrier network such as ATM or VoIP.
Does the IiQ 3000 affect performance?
No. Speech channels are passed through the IiQ 3000 without delay. The signalling channel will have a 200ms delay as it passes through the IiQ 3000, which is not significant in the overall set-up time of the call.
How many channels does the IiQ 3000 support?
30 bearer channels and 1 signalling channel (30B + D).
Can the IiQ 3000 be remotely managed?
Yes. The IiQ 3000 is remotely managed by a web browser over an Ethernet port and generates SNMP traps.
Will I be able to use the IiQ 3000 if I have a Q.931 PBX?
Yes. The IiQ 3000 will support DPNSS to Q.931 but many of the DPNSS services will be lost as they are not supported in Q.931.
Can I use a centralised voice messaging system connected to a network?
Yes you can, the IiQ 3000 has a number of special translations that are designed to support this service.
Is route optimisation ROP-R as per DPNSS version 6 fully supported?
Yes. The IiQ 3000 maps DPNSS ROP-R to QSIG path replacement.
Has this solution been used in connection with VoIP applications?
The IiQ 3000 has been used in a number of VoIP and VoATM solutions. Please refer to the Case Studies section on this web site.
